Description

Although born in Sweden, luthier Tobias Berg has followed the craft of guitar making through Canada, England, and the US. In 1998 he settled in Germany where he has continued to build guitars to the present day. In his early years, Berg was able to gather plenty of experience, having worked 6 years at Lakewood guitars as well as taking numerous courses in classical guitar making. In 2004 he attained the German Master title after a successful examination. Meetings with notable luthiers like Robert Ruck and Jeffrey Elliot have been another source of inspiration to him, especially when it comes to quality of sound and their level of workmanship.

His guitars are light in weight and are therefore very comfortable and fun to play. They have a beautiful, liquid quality to the tone, and are incredibly balanced. The cedar top adds warmth and openness, while still retaining the great quality of tone found in the spruce counterpart. His guitars are quickly gaining recognition among classical guitarists, and the concert artist Scott Tennant recently purchased one of his instruments. Along with a bold and unique appearance, Berg's guitars are very impressive overall, and we are excited to be representing this very talented luthier here at GSI.
