Description

For over half a century, the name of Jose Ramirez is perhaps the most recognized to classical and flamenco guitar aficionados. Ramirez instruments have been performed on by countless professionals from Sting to Segovia, Chet Atkins to Sabicas and Lee Ritenour to Christopher Parkening.

This is the "semi-professional" (SP) model which features a striking and unique rosette (designed by Amalia Ramirez) and a simpler, smaller label (similar in many ways to labels from previous periods), this instrument is designed for the semi-professional (hence the model name) at a comfortable mid-price. Playability and tone are superb with plenty of volume for the concert stage. This guitar had a crack on the top, near the bridge that has been expertly repaired and is now in fine playing condition. A truly remarkable value for the player who needs a top-level instrument but cannot make the financial jump to the 1a models.

For more information on Ramirez, be sure to read The Ramirez Family: Masters of the Guitar, or for information on the Ramirez family members, from Amalia Ramirez back to Jose I and for some interesting fact-checking on myths and facts about this legendary workshop.
