2005 Pepe Romero "La Serrana" SP/CSAR

Made by the son of the great guitarist of the same name - this is one of the "0" guitars (#70) that until now has been a part of the Romero family collection - indeed the label bears a dedication to Pepe Sr. It has huge volume and extremely quick response - although the tone is "classical", the response and playability is much like a southern Spanish flamenco guitar. The instrument is very lightly built, reminiscent of the legendary guitars that were built in the Miguel Rodriguez workshop. Aptly this guitar is named "La Serrana" after Miguel Rodriguez Serrano (a.k.a. Miguel Jr.) who gifted this spruce top (which had been cut sometime in the 1960s) to Pepe Jr. in 1997 while Pepe was learning from the great master in Cordoba, Spain. The exquisite CSA rosewood for the back and sides was also a gift, given to Pepe by Bob Taylor (of Taylor guitars) who felt it would be best suited in a great classical guitar, which indeed it became. Playability is very easy with a smooth neck and large, rounded frets. The sound is thick and warm, yet very pure and separated, with great punch and immediate attack.
