Description

Dominique Field is internationally recognized as France's top builder in his generation. This guitar has unique design features particularly in the headstock, rosette and plantilla (body shape). The sound is very, very refined and at the same time, extremely powerful. It has the aesthetic beauty of Hauser and Bouchet and all the volume of Dammann or Smallman. In our opinion, Field is simply one of the best makers in the world today, and this guitar in particular verifies this claim in every way. His instruments have been played by many leading concert artists including Eduardo Isaac, Vladimir Mikulka, Scott Tennant and the great flamenco artist Vicente Amigo. Field's enormous wait-list exceeds 17 years, making him one of the most in-demand luthiers in the world. Apart from two hairline (and virtually invisible) cracks in the soundboard recently repaired by Richard Reynoso, the instrument is in beautiful condition, and is aesthetically gorgeous with a stunning three piece back as well as an aged spruce top that has the dark, honey-color patina that can only come with the passing of time. The body of the sound is thick and almost "creamy" and yet remains exceptionally clear and focused due to the brilliant and penetrating attack. This is a fine example of this great makers best work.Orfeo Magazine #7 - French School Luthiery
