We consider the flamenco guitars from this famous shop to be among the best in the world, alongside those of Arcangel Fernandez, Manuel Reyes, and even Marcelo Barbero. This 1959 is an outstanding example, being very light as a feather with shocking volume and resonance for a guitar of this (or any) period, having had over 50 years to develop a beautiful played-in sound. The tone is a perfect blend of beauty and true flamenco aggressiveness. If massaged by the player, it sings with a sweet voice that is warm and full, but if pushed, even just a little – it awakens with a powerful bark that only the best flamenco guitars can produce. Built by the twin brother of Miguel Rodriguez Jr. (Rafael Rodriguez), this is a rare and highly desirable Rodriguez to the discriminating collector and performer. It has a fresh setup including new frets, just done by Yuris Zeltins, which is extremely low with just the right hint of sizzling buzz, and therefore extremely playable. Yuris also repaired a hairline crack on the top, and is of no consequence to the sound or playability. Condition is otherwise exceptional, including finish which is original.
