California luthier David Schramm (also a player) has owned many guitars over the years, including Hauser III. Many years ago David would regularly visit us at GSI whenever we had a Hauser I, II or III in stock, and he would spend considerable time with the instruments, playing them, measuring them and really getting a feel for the stylistic details - structurally, sonically and even how the respond to the player. This guitar from 2008 is clearly a very informed and excellent tribute to Hauser, the primary focus of this model being of course the famous and iconic 1937 Hauser I of Andres Segovia. But also it carries with it the knowledge David accumulated from his experience of many other Hauser instruments. It has all of the characteristics of a great Hauser - excellent balance, great clarity between voices, controlled overtones with very pronounced fundamental in every note, and a flexible palate of tonal colors. Projection is excellent making this very suitable to the concert hall but also very recordable as well. Playability is very comfortable with an easy neck shape and easy action. The top is French polished, with lacquered back and sides, making it a very practical guitar for regular use and travel. Fitted with Reischl tuners (previously known as Landstorfer) - the historical choice of Hauser I, II and III for many decades, so very authentic to have this guitar also fitted with them. Although this is a second-hand guitar, it is in virtually like-new condition with almost no signs of wear.
