Description

Although born in Sweden, luthier Tobias Berg has followed the craft of guitar making through Canada, England, and the US. He finally settled in Germany where he has been a full-time guitar builder for many years. His guitars are light in weight and are therefore very comfortable and fun to play. They have a beautiful, liquid quality to the tone, and are incredibly balanced. His cedar topped guitars have fantastic clarity, but still have a spectacular amount of added richness, derived from the stacked but controlled overtones. Along with a bold and unique appearance, Berg's guitars are very impressive overall, and we are excited to be representing this very promising luthier here at GSI.

This particular guitar (#84) features his new double-sided construction method. Tobias has been perfecting this method in his own guitars for some time now, and we have been very pleased with several of these that have passed through here over the past year. To see more on the technique, see our blog post for the full story. For tone, the double-sides give the guitar a deeper, almost "cathedral-like" presence to the sound, a quality we've only heard before in modern Friederich guitars.

Materials on this guitar are top-quality as always, and Tobias has decided to decorate the guitar with an elegantly carved headstock - a very tasteful touch to an already exquisite instrument.
