Description

This is the first cedar-topped guitar we've received from Dominik after his visit here earlier this year, primarily to inspect and study several of the guitars from the Russell Cleveland collection. There was one guitar in particular which really got his attention - the 1976 Miguel Rodriguez "Churchdoor". Dominik was taken by its power, incredible balance, and excellent sustain. He was so taken with this instrument that he had to make a structural copy to learn more about just what made that guitar work the way it did. In particular, it was the larger body with its very thin back and sides, and the lightweight, 5-fan bracing that was the main focus (the Rodriguez had the famous floating harmonic bar in it as well, which Dominik has also added). So, Dominik took every measurement he needed to make his copy. The result is impressive – although the quality of the sound is still that of a "Wurth" guitar, many of the characteristics of the Rodriguez (volume, balance and sustain) are now apparent in this model. It's a great guitar with a strong presence and sets a high standard for future guitars of this new model which Dominik will continue to build. We look forward to receiving many more of these truly inspired guitars!
