Argentine-Italian Guitar Maker, Paula Lazzarini, Builds Her Next Guitar for GSI.

News

Argentine-Italian guitar maker, Paula Lazzarini, has shared some sneak peek photos of our new guitar. Paula is the winner of the 4th edition of the Antonio Marin Montero Guitar Building Competition in Granada, Spain. She is also the first female classical guitar builder to win this prestigious prize.

Paula was trying to achieve more "cello-like" characteristics in the sound of this particular guitar. She did it through the bracing of the back where she used four, evenly spaced traverse bars. Just like our previous instruments from her, this is going to be a cedar top, however this time, she used Cocobolo for the back and sides. In terms of aesthetics, Paula made decorative mosaics in the rosette and in the tie block. The purflings and inlay elements are made of flamed maple and African rosewood. You may also notice a thin piece of flamed maple in the center of the back.
