Coming Soon: Moonseok Choi shares photos of his new guitar!
Korean luthier Moonseok Choi has completed a new guitar for GSI. With over 15 years of experience, Moonseok began his training with Om Taechang in Seoul (2002–2005) before earning a Master’s degree in Musical Instrument Making at the Westsächsische Hochschule in Zwickau, Germany, where he lived from 2006 to 2010.
This time, Moonseok used a spruce for the soundboard. In terms of the aesthetics, his work is strongly influenced by nature and the sea. His time living in Malmö, Sweden, near the Baltic coast, left a lasting impression—particularly the color of the water—which is reflected in the rosette design with its fish-like motifs and subtle blue accents.
Moonseok primarily builds traditional classical guitars and favors restrained, time-honored designs. Sneak peek photos are below. GSI is proud to represent Moonseok Choi exclusively in the United States.
Update: We had the pleasure to record D'Addario artist, Andrzej Grygier, recording on this instrument before shipping it to GSI. Check out his videos below. Andrzej recorded them in St Bride's Scottish Episcopal Church in Glasgow, Scotland
