Lead Guitar, a GSI Foundation-Supported Program, Featured on CBS News Los Angeles
We are thrilled to share that Lead Guitar was recently featured on CBS News Los Angeles. The segment shows how trained musicians are bringing free guitar instruction to hundreds of students in the Los Angeles Unified School District, giving them the opportunity to learn, create and perform music.
The GSI Foundation is proud to be the founding partner and principal sponsor of Lead Guitar in Los Angeles. We were the program's first supporter, and we continue to be its largest sponsor today. Through GSI founder Tim Miklaucic's involvement, Córdoba Guitars also partnered with Lead Guitar and provided many of the instruments you see in the segment.
Lead Guitar's work is built around music, mentorship and empowerment. In classrooms like the one at East Valley High School, students who may never have held a guitar before are learning to read music, play together as an ensemble and build the confidence that comes with performing. Seeing this work recognized on CBS is a powerful reminder of why the GSI Foundation exists.
None of this would be possible without the generous friends of the GSI Foundation who have donated guitars or made monetary contributions over the years. Every student who picks up a guitar in these classrooms is part of a growing community, and we are deeply grateful to our donors, as well as to the teachers, schools and families who make this work happen every day.
If you would like to support music education in Los Angeles, visit the GSI Foundation page to learn how you can donate a guitar or make a contribution.
