Monching Carpio's New Video: Five Pieces on Five Fine and Rare Guitars
Filipino guitarist Monching Carpio is back with a new video, performing five classic works on five historical instruments, four of which are from GSI. Recorded in Manila and produced by Guitar Friends and Guitar Galeria studio, the session pairs iconic repertoire with guitars of serious pedigree.
The Program
- Prelude No. 1 (Villa-Lobos) on a 1969 José Ramírez (ex Andrés Segovia)
- Jongo (Bellinati) on a 1976 Miguel Rodríguez (ex Celín Romero)
- Una Limosna por el Amor de Dios (Barrios) on an 1883 Antonio de Torres "SE 49" (ex Francisco Tárrega)
- Invierno Porteño (Piazzolla, arr. Assad) on a 1957 Hermann Hauser (ex Julian Bream)
- Felicidade (Dyens) on a Daniel Friederich No. 831 (2012)
This follows Monching's earlier album of works by Filipino composer Maestro José Valdez, recorded on 13 rare historic guitars from the GTY collection — many also from GSI's stock.
