A New Guitar From Andy Culpepper Is Coming Soon to GSI. See the Sneak Peek Photos!

Coming Soon

Luthier Andy Culpepper is a very talented luthier from the USA. He builds extremely well-made guitars, firmly rooted in the traditional Spanish style. His guitars feature the "open bar" system of top bracing, where the outer fan struts pass through openings in the harmonic bars. This key element in Andy's guitars creates a very responsive, clear, and beautiful tone that surrounds the listener in any venue.

His guitars are assembled by first joining the neck to the top to precisely establish the center line of the guitar. This assembly is placed face down on a solera or a workboard. The sides are slotted into the heel block and glued to the top with individual glue blocks called tentalones. Finally, the back is fitted and the box is closed. The bridge is glued on before finishing because Andy likes to play all of his guitars "in the white" and refine the voice by sanding the top. The final step is applying French polish shellac completely by hand without the use of any tools.

Our newest guitar from Andy will soon be available at GSI. Check out some sneak peek photos below. The materials are stunning. Andy used a beautiful set of spruce for the top and a very classy set of CSA rosewood for the back and sides.
