Alan Mearns Performs New Arrangements From His Upcoming Album
Our good friend Alan Mearns has got some great new projects in the works and we’re pretty excited about them all. Of these, our very own Felix Salazar is assisting with the mastering of Alan’s upcoming album “Lorca” – his album that will feature brand-new arrangements of hitherto unknown works to the solo guitar repertoire, plus a few old chestnuts, but of course completely re-arranged by Alan and his long-term mentor Stanley Yates.
Alan is creating some unique content only for GSI that we’ll be revealing along the way. Here are his first two videos. Below, you'll find a recording he just did for us of the “Oriental” – the 2nd of the 12 Spanish Dances, Op. 5 by Enrique Granados (a different recording of this same piece will also be appearing on his upcoming “Lorca” album). It’s a finger-twisting arrangement as only Alan can pull off, so please enjoy. The second video features Alan's arrangement of "Pavane pour une Infante Dèfunte" by Maurice Ravel.
For anyone looking for the score to Oriental, it’s available on Stanley’s website: https://www.stanleyyates.com/concert-arrangements-vol-1
More content from Alan to come!
