Andrew York's Summer Tour Update: A Glimpse Into His Recent Performances

News

For those curious about what Andrew York has been up to this summer, we have a brief update on his recent performances across Europe and the U.S. Andrew shared some highlights from his busy schedule, which included playing at a variety of festivals and making connections with both new and old friends along the way.

One of the standout moments was his performance at the Hersbruck International Guitar Festival, known for its stylistic diversity and great audience support. Hosted by Johannes Tonio Kreusch, the festival brought together classical guitarists like David Leisner, Antigoni Goni, and Stephanie Jones, along with a Cuban band and a British blues artist. Andrew’s concert was very well-received by the audience, and he sent us a short video from the event, which you can watch below.

Andrew also included a photo taken with his wife AnnieAntigoni Goni, David Leisner, and friends in the town of Hersbruck.

Before his visit to Hersbruck, Andrew performed the final concert of a long-running series in Murnau, organized by Thomas Köthe, who retired this year. Andrew shared that he felt honored to close out the series with Thomas, a friend he’s collaborated with many times over the years. As a gift, Thomas gave Andrew a traditional Bavarian hat, which he wore during his Hersbruck concert and other performances.

Andrew's tour also included a visit to Lippstadt, where he played at the Jakobi Kirche, a beautiful church venue. This performance was organized in collaboration with Andrew's friends Wolfgang Bargel and presenter Michael Ressel. This was his third time performing at this venue, another important stop in his summer tour of Germany.

In addition to his European tour, Andrew also spent time at the Aaron Shearer Summer Institute, held in the Appalachian Mountains. This was his second year giving a concert there. Attached is a photo with Walter Schearer (Aaron Shearer's son), , directors Thomas Kikta and Alan Hirsh, and Stephen Mattingly, the fine artist and teacher with whom Andrew shared a concert last year and this year. They have all become Andrew's good friends after the spiritual times they had on the mountain for the last two years.

Stay tuned for more updates from Andrew York in the future!
