Carlos Bedoya’s First GSI Recording Session
Colombian guitarist Carlos Bedoya, who is currently working towards a Doctor of Music degree at the Jacobs School of Music, recently made an impressive debut on the GSI YouTube channel. In his first recording session, Carlos played four different pieces on four different guitars, showing off his great tone and precision. He recorded Silvius Leopold Weiss’ “Prelude” from the Lute Sonata No. 34 in D Minor on a 2021 Gary Southwell "1940 'Augustine' Hauser, ex-Bream" SP/MP guitar, and gave a beautiful performance of Gentil Montaña’s “Guabina Viajera” from Suite Colombiana No. 2 on a 2024 Mario Aracama CD/KA guitar. He also played Carlos Lora Fálquez’s “Variación Sobre La Cumbia Sampuesana” on a 2019 Michael Cadiz SP/ZR guitar, and finished with a strong rendition of Joaquín Rodrigo’s “Passacaglia” from Tres Piezas Españolas on a 1968 Jose Ramirez "1a MT" CD/IN guitar.
