Sneak Peek: A New Andy Culpepper Guitar Is Coming to GSI
We’re pleased to share that a brand-new classical guitar by American luthier Andy Culpepper, which will soon be available at GSI.
Andy is known for his elegant, traditionally inspired instruments, firmly rooted in the Spanish school of guitar making. His guitars feature the “open bar” top bracing system—where the outer fan struts pass through the harmonic bars—contributing to their rich, clear tone and excellent projection.
As with his previous guitars, this one was constructed using Andy’s meticulous process. The neck is joined to the top first to establish a precise centerline, then placed face down on a solera. The sides are fitted into the heel block and secured with tentalones, and the back is installed last to complete the box. Andy attaches the bridge before finishing so that he can play the guitar “in the white” and fine-tune its voice. As always, the finish is applied entirely by hand using French polish.
This newest guitar is built with a cedar soundboard paired with Honduran rosewood back and sides— The materials are stunning, and the craftsmanship is, as always, top-notch.
