A New Guitar by Hironori Fukuda Arriving Soon at GSI
Japanese luthier Hironori Fukuda has finished building a new classical guitar for GSI, which will arrive at our store soon.
We first met Hironori at the 3rd International Antonio Marín Montero Guitar Building Competition in Granada in 2019, where he received Third Prize. In 2024, he returned for the 7th edition of the competition and was awarded First Prize, marking a significant milestone in his career.
Hironori builds guitars using traditional Spanish methods and natural materials, working exclusively with air-dried European spruce for his soundboards and avoiding heat treatment or synthetic reinforcements. He uses hide glue throughout construction and finishes his instruments with shellac, filling pores with pumice and completing the surface through traditional French polishing.
His aesthetic is elegant and understated, with refined rosette work made from naturally colored woods, tasteful inlays, and a distinctive bridge featuring squared ramps for a bold, architectural look.
Below, you'll find sneak peek photos of the finished instrument for an early look.
