Spanish Luthier Miguel Angel Gutierrez Returns with a New Guitar for GSI – See the Photos!
Miguel Angel Gutierrez is currently building a new guitar for GSI. We first connected with Miguel in 2022 when he took home 2nd prize at the 5th Antonio Marin Montero Guitar Building Competition in Granada. He was also one of the luthiers featured in our "On Location with D'Addario" video shoot series, where his craftsmanship and approach to guitar making were beautifully highlighted.
Originally from Spain and now based in Genoa, Italy, Miguel has developed a unique style that’s immediately recognizable for its bold, colorful inlay work across the head veneer, rosette, and tie block. His headstock design features a mother-of-pearl leaf motif, inspired by the iconic leaf from the story of Adam and Eve—symbolizing a sense of vulnerability and self-awareness. Miguel believes that both musicians and luthiers share this experience of vulnerability, especially when their work is shared with the public.
We’re excited to soon showcase Miguel’s new guitar, which shares much of the artistic detail of his earlier creation. Check out the photos below to appreciate the craftsmanship firsthand!
