We know the winners of the 5th edition of the Antonio Marin Montero Guitar Building Competition in Granada, Spain! This competition organized by the European Guitar Foundation is one of the most prestigious guitar-building competitions in the world.
As always, this competition featured great guitar makers who competed for prizes. The jury members featured outstanding guitarists and renowned experts: Yuris Zeltins, Manuel Cáceres Pizarro, Edmund Blöchinger, Charo Monge, Juan Carlos Martos, Julio Castaños Soler, Alberto Cuéllar, and our own president of GSI, David Collett. After careful examination of the presented guitars, the jury members chose the following finalists: Paul Aquilera (England-Argentina), Miguel Angel Gutierrez (Spain), Alexis Parducci (Argentina), Adrien Savary-Freestone (France), and Rodney Stedall (New Zealand).
There could be only three prize-winners, so the jury gave the first three prizes to:
1. Alexis Parducci (Argentina)
2. Miguel Angel Gutierrez (Spain)
3. Adrien Savary-Freestone (France)
This is the second year in a row when the first prize went to a guitar maker from Argentina. Last year, the first prize went to Argentine-Italian luthier, Paula Lazzarini, who also became the first female classical guitar maker to win this prestigious prize.
We are going to feature guitars made by the winners in our store, so let us know if you are interested in a guitar made by one of these winners. As always, this festival has been a great experience. Special thanks to the organizer, Vicente Coves, for organizing this event.
