Vladimir Druzhinin shares the photos of his next spruce-top guitar!
Luthier Vladimir Druzhinin has shared stunning sneak peek photos of our latest guitar, now featuring a spruce top paired with African rosewood for the back and sides. This instrument by Vladimir showcases the refined design developed by his friend and mentor, Timofey Tkach. Rooted in the Classical Spanish School, this guitar continues the tradition of Manuel Ramirez by employing a symmetrical top design to enhance tonal balance and projection. Since 2022, Vladimir has been incorporating Timofey's design principles into his instruments, aiming to maximize sound potential while preserving the natural timbre and color. Their collaborative research on this approach has been detailed in two academic articles, which you can explore below:
- Featured Article: "The Evolution of the Classical Guitar & the Issue of the Longitudinal Coupling in the Design of the Soundboard"
- Featured Article: "Reproducibility and evaluation of the result in the Spanish Classical Guitar Making" by Druzhinin & Tkach.
Excitingly, this new guitar is already on its way to GSI, and we look forward to its arrival in our store soon! Before shipping, Vladimir had the opportunity to meet with two outstanding musicians—guitarist Sergei Gudelev and domra player Victoria Aretinskaya—who recorded a few videos with music by Evgeny Svetlanov showcasing this exceptional instrument. Stay tuned, as these performances will be released soon on the GSI YouTube channel!
