Luthier Youri Soroka Builds a New Guitar for GSI
French-Ukrainian luthier Youri Soroka shared with us some sneak peek photos of his newest guitar, which he is currently building for GSI. The materials are beautiful. The top is made of Italian spruce from the same stock used for Youri’s 2022 “Templars Oak” instrument. For the back and sides, Youri selected a very elegant set of African rosewood.
In terms of structural details, this guitar will be Youri’s new concert model, inspired by Torres/Hauser-style guitars but featuring some modifications in the top bracing. His goal is to achieve even sustain in the upper registers while maintaining excellent playability.
Recently, Youri Soroka met with D'Addario artist Yaroslava Ihnatenko to recorded a few videos on-location in Europe. Below, you'll find the videos from the set.
