CSU Summer Arts Guitar Course

News

CSU

There’s about a month left to apply to the CSU Summer Arts Guitar Course, which looks like it’s going to be a pretty amazing two weeks of all things guitar. I’ll be teaching the flamenco guitar class, and the roster of players teaching the rest of the classes and/or performing is very impressive. Here’s some info from Scott Morris, who’s coordinating the program this year:

The 2013 CSU Summer Arts Guitar Course is an intensive, two week (July 1-15, 2013) course filled with daily master classes, chamber music, concerts, clinics, and group lessons with Eliot Fisk, Andrew York, Ben Verdery, Scott Tennant, William Kanengiser, Rafael Elizondo, Evan Hirschelman (extended techniques), Kai Narezo (flamenco guitar), Julian Coryell (jazz improv) and yours truly, Scott Morris. This is an excellent opportunity for not only future professional musicians and serious music students, but also for amateur guitarists and enthusiasts to immerse in the instrument they love.

I am the coordinator for the course and can answer any questions that you or your members might have. Participants also receive 3 units of college credit for participation and tuition includes room and board as well as an awesome meal plan. There are other courses taking place at the same time including a Dreamworks animation workshop, painting, photography, Second City comedy workshops, actor’s workshops, etc. If the sign up for the guitar course they can take another one for free since the fee covers 1-6 units. It feels like a intense artist’s retreat and is an amazing hang!

The deadline to apply is May 3rd through the website. I am only requiring perspective students to send a resume and personal statement along with their application. Financial aid and scholarships are also available.

Check out the website for more info.

Hope all is well with you and look forward to talking soon!

Thanks,
Scott Morris
