Doris Cosic Records Three New Videos at GSI
Doris Cosic has recently visited the GSI showroom to record three new performance videos for our YouTube channel. Doris is a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) candidate at the University of Southern California and an active performer with a diverse repertoire ranging from contemporary classical works to jazz arrangements. Her session at GSI showcases her versatility, featuring compositions by Nejc Kuhar and Miroslav Tadic, as well as her own arrangement of Erroll Garner’s Misty.
"Memory Lanes" by Nejc Kuhar
In the first video, Doris performs Memory Lanes by Slovenian composer and guitarist Nejc Kuhar. Written for and dedicated to guitarist Juri Cerkovnik, this piece is full of nostalgia, melancholy and sadness, yet it also signifies time in people's life filled with joy which eventually became a nostalgic memory. Doris recorded this performance on a 2025 Wolfgang Jellinghaus “Signature CD/CD 630” CD/GR.
"Macedonian Girl" (Makedonsko devojče) by Miroslav Tadic
For the second video, Doris turns to the folk-inspired music of Miroslav Tadic, performing Macedonian Girl (Makedonsko devojče). The piece captures the dance-like rhythms and heartfelt lyricism, with Doris bringing out its rich colors on a 2003 Manuel Reyes “Negra” SP/CSAR flamenco guitar.
"Misty" by Erroll Garner (arr. Doris Cosic)
In her third recording, Doris presents her own arrangement of Erroll Garner’s beloved jazz standard Misty. Her adaptation brings the harmonic richness of the piece into the classical guitar world, maintaining its smooth, expressive character. She recorded it on a 1985 Manuel Contreras “Double Top” SP/CSAR.
