Fernando Moreno Introduces a New Rosette Pattern In His New Guitar Built for GSI
A new guitar is coming soon to GSI from Fernando Moreno. Fernando is a Spanish luthier whose craftsmanship is strongly rooted in the Spanish tradition of guitar making. His workshop is located in Alcala de Guadaira, a beautiful small village just outside of Seville, in the deep heart of Andalucía.
Fernando's career as an independent guitar maker began in Granada. Over there, Antonio Ariza encouraged him to build a guitar on his own after seeing the quality of Fernando's work at the guitar shop of Valeriano Bernal. Then, under the tutelage of both Antonio Ariza and Juan Garcia Fernandez, Fernando built his first guitar. Later, he entered the family workshop of Francisco Manuel Diaz where he improved his skills in all aspects of construction from the cutting of the wood to the finishing with shellac, largely with the support of Francisco’s son, Victor Diaz.
We received a few sneak peek photos of Fernando's next guitar built for us. It's going to be a spruce top with Indian rosewood back and sides. Fernando has also changed his rosette pattern and this is going to be his first instrument featuring this new rosette design.
