Oscar Trezzini's New Guitar Features a Friederich's Soundboard Originally Built for Alexandre Lagoya!

Coming Soon

Oscar Trezzini is originally from Argentina and began his career as a guitar maker in Buenos Aires in 1982, learning from luthiers Pedro Malossetti and Héctor Curto. In his early years, he experimented with a wide variety of guitar types before gradually refining his techniques and focusing exclusively on classical guitars. Once he relocated to Switzerland, we were introduced to him through Dominique Field, and we had the pleasure of showcasing several of Oscar’s guitars over the years. After losing touch with him for a while, we were thrilled to reconnect with him last year when he settled on the Portuguese island of Madeira. He has set up a new workshop there with an ocean view and controlled humidity.

During the intervening years, Oscar had the incredible opportunity to meet and befriend the legendary luthier Daniel Friederich. This friendship allowed Oscar to acquire some remarkable items from Friederich’s workshop, including several partially-built Friederich soundboards and even the personal workbenches of both Friederich and Robert Bouchet. Along with these workbenches came many of their hand tools, measuring devices, and power tools, each with handwritten notes from Friederich detailing dates and usage tips. While Oscar humbly acknowledges that possessing these tools won’t automatically improve his guitars, they serve as a daily reminder of his admiration for Daniel Friederich, which inspires him in his craft.

For this new guitar, Oscar has utilized a top obtained from Daniel Friederich, which still bears pencil markings from Friederich himself. Remarkably, this top was originally intended to be used in a guitar made for the legendary guitarist Alexandre Lagoya. This connection to both Friederich and Lagoya gives the instrument an extraordinary historical significance. This new instrument also features some new improvements in sound and overall aesthetics, including a new headstock design.
