German Luthier, Stefan Nitschke, Builds His "Vicente Arias" model for GSI!
We've received sneak peek photos of our next guitar built by Stefan Nitschke! This time, Stefan is building for us a model based on Vicente Arias guitars. Just like Nitschke's other models, rather than a literal copy, this instrument is inspired by several Arias guitars that he has seen. However, Stefan told us that the primary inspiration behind this instrument was a guitar by Arias from 1901. The slightly smaller body is based on an older Arias from 1897. The scale length is 650 mm.
Stefan also chose some excellent materials for this guitar. The wood for the soundboard was acquired from a maker who originally bought it in the 1980s in the region of Swiss Jura - the same place where Romanillos bought most of his wood. The back and sides are made of a 40-year-old cypress.
