University of Rhode Island Guitar and Mandolin Festival

News

Adam Levin, director of the University of Rhode Island Guitar and Mandolin Festival, announced the 9th edition of this annual event, proudly sponsored by GSI.

The festival, running from October 13, 16-20, 2024, offers a wealth of opportunities: fantastic concerts, performances, competitions, learning experiences, and networking with fellow musicians.

For ages 6-16, there's the Rising Stars Young Guitarists' Program, while students 18 and older can join the Rhode Island Guitar Program, which includes two masterclasses and full festival access. The Rising Stars International Virtual Guitar Competition returns with significant cash and concert prizes. The Young Artist Division's top prize features a $3,000 concert at the festival, $1,000 concerts in Costa Rica and at Oklahoma City University, plus other rewards.

This year, the festival has rebranded as the URI Guitar and Mandolin Festival, introducing a new intensive mandolin course with divisions for Elite Mandolin Soloists and Mandolin Lovers, led by Jacob Reuven and faculty members Ekaterina Skliar and Dor Amran, including special guest Hamilton de Holanda. There's also a new virtual mandolin competition, with a $3,000 concert at the 2025 festival as the top prize.

To participate in the guitar or mandolin competitions, submit a video via email to [email protected] by October 6, 2024.

You can join as an Active Guitar Participant (two masterclasses and full festival access), a Guitar Auditor (full festival access), or purchase concert tickets. For more details and to sign up, click the button below.
