American luthier Garrett Lee has been building guitars for a quarter century and recently closed his wait-list due to strong demand for his guitars. Although he offers traditional guitars to his clients, the majority of his output are his double-tops, of which he has refined with many of his own design details. This guitar that we offer from 2014 is a double-top with outer layer of spruce and inner layer of cedar, which Garrett believes produces a true hybrid of the two woods, both in sound and response. Indeed we hear and feel in this guitar both the big-bodied/wide sound of cedar combined with the clarity and separation of spruce. It has a relaxed, played-in sound, both from having been played regularly for 10 years but also because of the design. Other features include an adjustable action neck which allows the player to immediately change without affecting volume, sustain or intonation. It also has an elevated fingerboard for improved access to upper registers. Back and sides are lacquered and top is French-polished making this an ideal instrument for the traveling concert player needing a sturdy, reliable workhorse of a concert guitar. It also comes in a custom-fit Hoffee case. Condition is excellent with no prior damage or repairs, only some modest playing wear in the finish.
