During a visit to Russia a few years ago we met with several of the leading young makers, and in our opinion the young builder Vladimir Druzhinin showed exceptional promise at that time. Since that meeting we were able to visit with Vladimir once more, years later in Germany and test out his current work, and we were remarkably impressed, all-around and immediately placed an order - this guitar being our second from him, but our first spruce top. Just a look at this instrument reveals a very tasteful and skillfully executed style that is highlighted in his classic rosette, beautiful selection of materials, and elegantly carved headstock. Vladimir's appreciation of the masters of the past - particularly that of Torres, is evident in the overall shape - dimensions, plantilla, etc. Also in the spirit of Torres, the guitar is lightly and efficiently built, with very focused and fast attack to every note. Quality of sound is beautiful - singing and lyrical trebles with smooth, lush yet firm basses. Volume is excellent for any concert setting - either solo or with an ensemble. We are very pleased to be working with this fine young maker as his exclusive representatives in the US.
