About Erez Perelman

Born in Israel and raised among artists, Erez Perelman found his passion for guitar making while studying guitar performance under Celin Romero in San Diego, California. During those years, Erez frequently visited GSI to study the historical instruments that passed through our doors — not only their structural and physical properties, but how they played and sounded. That grounding shows in his own instruments, which are traditional in both sound and playability: ultra-lightweight, fast-responding, with a big, warm, woody voice. After running his workshop in Israel for many years, Erez recently relocated to Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. This is our second instrument from him built in his new location, and the first with this particular wood combination.

This Guitar

This guitar pairs a cedar top with CSA rosewood back and sides, lined internally with cypress. As usual, Erez has selected beautiful materials — the quartersawn, dark chocolatey CSA rosewood is elegantly matched with a gorgeous cedar soundboard. The detailing is equally striking, with a generous amount of half-herringbone purfling worked into the head veneer, tie block, rosette, heel cap, and back center seam, making this an especially handsome instrument.

Sound and Playability

The lightweight build recalls Erez's flamenco blancas in its response, yet retains his memorable old-world "classical" tone — full of richness and clarity. A well-shaped neck and easy action make it comfortable for any player. Striking in both appearance and sound, this is a uniquely fine instrument by any standard, and we're thrilled to have it here at GSI.

Condition

This guitar was recently taken back on trade and is in excellent condition for a second-hand guitar, with very little wear to the finish. The previous owner took excellent care of it.
