Coming Soon - Ariel Ameijenda
We have photos of our first guitar on its way to us from Uruguayan luthier Ariel Ameijenda. GSI president David Collett and JohnPaul Trotter met Ameijenda on a recent trip to Montevideo and were very impressed with his work. Ameijenda’s father, Manuel, was possibly the very first generation of luthier in Uruguay, and studied guitar-making with a pupil of Ignacio Fleta. Ariel plays guitar, as well, and is very drawn to Indian music. As a builder, he favors traditional instruments and has done quite a bit of restoration work on old guitars like Hausers, Santos, Fleta, Garcia, Simplicio, etc. He also builds pre-Torres styled guitars and other stringed instruments like Baroque guitars, lutes, vihuelas and he also builds cajons.
