Jose Vigil's new guitar - the outcome of precise, methodical work in a perfectly controlled environment.
Jose Vigil has sent us some sneak peek photos of his newest guitar made for GSI. We’ve always admired Jose’s precise attention to all details. He takes his time building instruments, making sure that every detail is executed perfectly. He’s especially careful to avoid any unnecessary tensions during the assembly and prepares perfect joints for gluing. One of Jose’s priorities is to create a perfectly controlled environment for guitar building, maintaining the optimal humidity levels during the entire building process.J
His workshop is located in one of the best places in the world for guitar builders – in Granada, just a few meters away from Antonio Marin’s workshop! This has allowed Jose to spend long hours watching Marin work and receive precious advice. Jose is also influenced by some of the other local maestros including Rafael Moreno Rodríguez, Henner Haguenlocher and John Ray.
As you can see, this new guitar features a beautiful Swiss alpine spruce soundboard and high-grade, CSA rosewood for the back and sides. We’re looking forward to trying this instrument once it’s shipped to GSI.
