Laurel Harned records music by Johann Sebastian Bach and Vicente Asencio
Recently we had a new guest in our showroom! Laurel Harned is an 18-year-old classical guitarist who currently studies with Jack Sanders. Laurel started playing the guitar at the age of 9. She has actively participated in masterclasses with masters such as Manuel Barrueco, Ana Vidovic, the Beijing Guitar Duo, Jason Vieaux, and the Romeros. She won the first prize in the Denver Guitar Festival Youth Competition and appeared on NPR's radio program "From the Top".
While at GSI, Laurel recorded five videos. In the first three videos you can hear Laurel performing "Prelude", "Double" and "Gigue" from Johann Sebastian Bach's "Lute Suite in C Minor, BWV 997" arranged for guitar by Frank Koonce.

Laurel also recorded two movements, "La Serenor" and "La Joia" from "Collectici Intim" by Spanish composer, Vicente Asencio (1908-1979). This composition was written in 1965 for guitarist Narciso Yepes. The movements are based of various affects such as La Serenor (Serenity) and La Joia (Joy).
