Giovanni Tacchi, son of the well-known master luthier Andrea Tacchi has in recent years been taking up the craft of lutherie himself. Several years ago we were able to see his first instrument, built entirely by himself that was more-or-less a bench copy of a fantastic Daniel Friederich guitar that he had borrowed and studied extensively. Since then, he has experimented with the design, adding elements of his own, and this has resulted in this current model, which we now have here. Structurally it is quite similar to Friederich and sound-wise as well - it has a deep, resonant and thick quality of tone across all registers, and as we've said about Friederich's guitars - there is also an almost "reverb-like" quality that is produced by the box, giving the guitar a huge, cathedral-like presence. Materials of course are well-selected, the cedar used for the top comes from Cremona, Italy. Giovanni told us that this wood is extremely light and of high quality. It was purchased in 2002 by his father and Giovanni has been saving it for years to build his first GSI guitar from it. For the back and sides, he used a set of very dark Indian rosewood, which he believes is one of the most beautiful pieces of this wood he's ever come across. Overall it's a tremendous guitar in every regard and we are thrilled that at last we are working together with both father and now, son from this world-class workshop in Florence, Italy.
Note: This guitar is being re-listed and is now "used". Apart from some minor playing wear in the finish, it is as described above.
