Scott Tennant and Pepe Romero Jr. at GSI

Live Performances

scottpepe

We are really excited about our next event at GSI – The seven guitars from the Pepe Romero collection that have most influenced his son, luthier Pepe Romero Jr., presented by Pepe Jr. and played for us by none other than maestro Scott Tennant. This will be about as personal a connection with these absolutely historic guitars as one can get, with background provided by Pepe Jr. who has studied these guitars intimately (and literally lived with them). And to have them played as they should be by Scott Tennant in a great-sounding intimate space will make this a once-in-a-lifetime concert.

The event takes place on June 1, 2013 at 7:30pm at the Guitar Salon International showroom.

Seating is limited to 100. Tempranillo and Albariño wines will be provided by our friends at ‘Bodegas M’.

The guitars presented will be:

1.1886 Torres SP/CY – this one has a repair on the inside done by Santos Hernandez, using sheet music of Celedonio Romero! Celedonio would often practice in the Santos shop while Santos would build guitars. So the paper used for the repair was a scrap Celedonio left behind during one of his practice sessions. Very cool story…

2.1970 Miguel Rodriguez SP/IN “reverse fan” – this is the guitar that has inspired Pepe Jr. to adopt this same bracing pattern in his guitars.

3.1919 Santos Hernandez SP/CY

4.1958 Miguel Rodriguez SP/CY flamenco – this is the guitar Pepe used to record his first flamenco album when still a teenager

5.1969 Hermann Hauser CD/CSAR

6.1973 Miguel Rodriguez CD/CSAR Churchdoor “La Wonderful” – one of the most iconic guitars in history, Pepe used this on over 50 albums

7.2001 Blochinger SP/CSAR
