Although he has been building just outside of Granada, Spain for many years, Andrés Marvi (born in 1956) grew up in Germany where at a young age he picked up the guitar as a player and eventually taught music after his studies ended. His interest in building guitars was solidified in 1984 (one year before he successfully completed his final apprenticeship examination as a luthier) when he took part in a course in guitar-making held by José Romanillos. Today, his guitars are in demand worldwide and are used by many top players, including classical greats Aniello Desiderio, Graham Anthony Devine and Goran Krivokapic. The most prominent flamenco artist to have played on Marvi's guitars is none other than the great Gerardo Núñez. This guitar has a big, bold sound with enormous power and projection. Although a large guitar with thick neck, it plays well in the hands thanks to its fast response.
