Player Spotlight: Alex Park

Alex Park is currently a senior at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, studying Classical Guitar under Christopher Parkening. At the age of eight, he started playing the piano and at fifteen began his studies in classical guitar.

In February 2016, Alex Park was chosen as the winner for the Thomas Osborn Concerto Competition playing the ‘Concierto de Aranjuez’ by Joaquin Rodrigo. In addition to that, Alex was chosen as a finalist for the Classics Alive Young Artists Competition and placed second in the American Guitar Society’s Bickford Award in 2015. At the Pacific Guitar Festival in Monrovia, California, he was a finalist in the solo division in 2013, as well as a finalist in the chamber mixed division in 2014. At the 2013 Parness Concerto Competition, sponsored by the Culver City Symphony Orchestra, Alex placed Honorable Mentioned.

Alex has participated in master classes from Christopher Parkening, Jason VieauxAndrew York, Jubilant Sykes, Detlev Bork and the Ironwood Duo. In addition to classical guitar, Alex has worked on film and media projects, either as a session guitarist or a film composer. He currently teaches at Pangrazio Music Conservatory in Los Angeles, California.
