The Winners of the VI Antonio Marin Montero Guitar Building Competition in Granada, Spain
The VI edition of the Antonio Marin Montero Guitar Building Competition in Granada, Spain, took place on August 4-6 and once again confirmed its status as one of the most prestigious guitar-building competitions in the world. A huge thanks to Vicente Coves and the European Guitar Foundation for organizing this outstanding event.
This year the classical and flamenco guitar divisions had two separate panels of judges. The GSI President, David Collett, was a member of the classical guitar judge panel, while our good friend and former GSI employee, Kai Narezo, was a member of the flamenco judge panel.
After carefully examining all 23 instruments built by makers from 7 countries, the judges gave away all six prizes, but only to four winners. Two luthiers won prizes in both classical and flamenco categories. You'll find the list of prize winners below. We are very excited to feature guitars built by these makers in our store in the near future!
