The highly stylized guitars of Jeronimo Pena Fernandez are perhaps the most immediately identifiable for their bold design details and overall original style. His background in carpentry and furniture making was not lost in his lutherie, one needs only to see the ornate woodworking in the bridge and headstock - and for this guitar even the pegs! From time to time he was even known to carve his rosettes, although this example uses a traditional mosaic. His instruments are solidly built and although larger in size and scale than standard guitars, remarkably easy and enjoyable to play. The sound of this guitar is very flamenco - bold, snappy and bright, with fast response and lightweight feel. To date it has had only one owner who took meticulous care of it since 1971, therefore condition is excellent and original with only very minor signs of playing wear. This is also likely due to the combination of French polish on the top only and lacquer for the back and sides - a very durable finish combo for a guitar in regular use. A great example by one of the twentieth century's most unique builders.
