Description

This is a great-sounding 10-string instrument from Mitsuru Tamura, one of the most respected Japanese luthiers of the twentieth century. Despite two cracks, both well-repaired (one in the top, one in the back) the guitar plays and sounds incredibly good. Being a 10-string, the additional 4 bass strings allow players of Renaissance and Baroque lute music to play period repertoire without having to transpose bass notes. The instrument also works beautifully for transcriptions of piano and orchestral music which require a wider note range. It has a typical spruce sound, very refined and clean, with great focus. The action is set very comfortably, and helps make this an overall very enjoyable guitar for player and audience alike. A great choice for the serious concert performer or recording artist looking for a specialty instrument to handle a wider range of repertoire.
