Description

This guitar was built by the late Paul Jacobson (1940-2025) in 1997 (#190) during his more active period where he had already reached his artistically mature style. Over his career he became known for creating thoroughly professional instruments, with even tone and volume across all registers, great responsiveness to the players input, and full concert volume and excellent projection. He was also known for being an innovator, creating a 'twist plane' system on the fingerboard, allowing more room for the bass strings to vibrate while keeping action low on the trebles for fast passages; a new reinforced neck system that prevents the neck rising or warping over the years; and he was an early adopter of the 12-hole bridge for better break angle and downward pressure at the saddle which increases volume. This instrument is also fitted with custom tuners by Rodgers that match the headstock shape. The top is a master grade, very fine grained set of cedar and the body is made with a lovely and colorful set of CSA rosewood. It is in excellent condition with only some normal wear in the finish from nearly 3 decades of regular use. Overall this is a superb instrument for the stage or the collector seeking a rare guitar from a celebrated American maker.
