Description

We consider Howell to be the best traditional guitar maker in Australia, and we are proud to represent him here in the USA. Although his guitars are clearly inspired by those of Ignacio Fleta, both in terms of internal construction and exterior detailing, it is evident that he has clearly established his own style and characteristics. It has great volume, like a Fleta but a darker voice and a very deep resomance, and sounds almost-cello-like, with very rich, textured overtones. We have often said that due to this character, this is the best guitar in the world to play the Bach cello suites. Using almost no power tools, Howell manages to produce of the most traditional and beautiful finishes in the world, and makes for a warm and lustrous appearance. They are also very easy to and enjoyable to play and sound fantastic on the concert stage. These are simply among the best entirely handmade guitars in our inventory.
