Bob Desmond's early career was as a professional photographer, including an intensive stint working for Disney in the 1980s and 1990s. It was during this time that his interest in making guitars emerged and his friendship and mentorship with legendary guitar maker Manuel Velazquez was established - a relationship that lasted until Velazquez' passing in 2014. Bob prides himself on the fact that each guitar he builds takes him more than 200 hours to make start to finish. This instrument, a custom-build, is perfect for the working gigging musician needing a versatile guitar for live setups - it has Fishman pickup installed, tap plate on treble-side, cutaway with neck-to-body at the 14th fret and a total of 22 frets (high "D" natural) making this a crossover instrument that will suit virtually any style of playing. Despite a few (repaired) cracks and wear in the finish from years of regular use, the guitar is perfect structural and performing condition. This guitar is being sold "as is" and it should be noted that used guitars by this maker rarely appear on the second-hand market but when they do, they (in better condition) can typically sell in the $10,000+ range, so this is a big opportunity to acquire a guitar which is in performance-ready condition at a fraction of the normal price.
