Angelo Vailati has been building guitars for about 2 decades now, and his highly qualified background includes doing an apprenticeship with Enrico Bottelli in 2005, participating in the José Luis Romanillos masterclass in Siguenza (Spain) in 2006, and in 2008 he spent time in Gohar (Granada, Spain) with Daniele Chiesa. Angelo moved his workshop from Gropparello (Piacenza, Italy) to Bologna, Italy where he continues to work now. His guitars are strongly inspired by the great historical makers coming from the Torres/Hauser tradition. This particular guitar we offer here is expertly made with understated but very refined appointments in the detailing including a tradtional rosette of concentric rings that was in fashion by many of the makers in the early Madrid school. Soundwise, it has a relaxed, warm, old-world quality of sound that (like its appearance) is reminiscent of the early 20th-century Spanish school. Condition is excellent with only some aesthetic wear in the finish from regular use. It does have some thin protective clear adhesives on the treble side of the right-hand playing area as well as behind the bridge to protect it from potential damage during string changes. Overall a very satisfying instrument in every regard, fun to play, beautiful to listen to.
This guitar was previously owned by our good friend Gianvito Pulzone, member of the "Guitart Quartet" in Italy (who also, as a soloist, was the only Italian guitarist to make it to the final round of the 2020 Latin Grammys with his CD dedicated to Leo Brouwer).
