Another beautifully made classical guitar from Carlos Juan Busquiel, this time with some very special wood for the back and sides - last summer he acquired some sets of CSA rosewood from the workshop of Francisco Salvador Jiménez - a great-grandson of Antonio de Torres. Although Francisco passed away eleven years ago, his widow hasn't sold the wood from his workshop until recently. Carlos found this wood through his friend, luthier Carlos González, who is also the director of the Antonio de Torres museum in Almeria, Spain. The sound is just as solid as the build - as with all of Carlos' guitars, it has a very compelling firmness in each note - the trebles are thick and weighty, as are the basses. Its fullness of sound still leaves ample room for a crystalline clarity across all registers. This is an instrument which lends itself beautifully to virtually any style of music from the Renaissance to the present. Lightly braced with only 5 fans and thin bridge plate, it also has ample volume for the player seeking added power combined with a lush, traditional sound. We are very pleased to be offering this fine instrument by this very talented younger maker.
