Description

This guitar was built in the famous Jose Ramirez workshop, which for over the last 70 years has produced instruments performed on by countless professionals from Sting to Segovia, Chet Atkins to Sabicas and Lee Ritenour to Christopher Parkening.

This model is the famously designated "1a", which stands for "primera" in Spanish, and means "1st" or "highest" quality. The 1a Traditional represents top quality in workmanship, detail and choice of wood. It has one of their their classic rosettes and purfling which are absolutely stunning. Top is French polished, while back and sides are lacquered, making this a very practical guitar for the gigging musician looking for a solid and durable instrument for regular use in a variety of settings. Soundwise, it has all the color and warmth that is normally associated with a great Ramirez. This one in particular boasts a huge, husky and almost "smoky" quality of sound - that mysterious and unique quality that can only be found in a classic-sounding Ramrez like this, which we feel is largely enhanced by the internal use of cypress lining on the sides. Although second-hand, this guitar is in excellent shape with no damage or repairs, only some mild wear in the top from regular use. Overall a fantastic guitar for the player seeking the timeless and enduring Madrid-sound as established by this famous workshop many decades ago.
