Sergio Perez is one of those luthiers who was literally born into it. His father, Teodoro Perez, made guitars at the Ramirez shop (his guitars are stamped GPM) for 25 years before setting out on his own, and Sergio pretty much grew up in his father's shop, officially joining his father in 1998, at the age of 18. After fourteen years as an apprentice to his father Sergio has been making his own guitars alongside his father, and we are very pleased to be representing Sergio in the US. Sergio's guitars are exceptional examples of the Madrid school, as expected.
Sergio's "Segovia" (named after the Spanish city, not famous guitarist!) model is made with top-quality materials all around, including a lovely spruce top and lush Indian rosewood for the back and sides. Tuners are Rubner. It features ornate detailing - particularly in the rosette and top purfling, making it a treat to the eye both in materials and craftsmanship. It produces a focused, deep and textured sound that has great dynamics and expression. It has plenty of power and refinement of tone - a great choice for concert performance and recording alike. Like every guitar we have seen from the Perez workshop, the set-up is superb and the attention to detail is impeccable. A hardshell case is included with this guitar.
