Traditional Trebles and Basses
The Augustine strings were the first commercially available nylon guitar strings, and over the last five decades Augustine has consistently remained one of the leading string manufacturers in the world. The Traditional strings are a refinement of these early strings that helped to transform the sound of the guitar in the middle of the 20th century.
The Red Label is a lower tension than the Blue, but the two are close. Augustine makes other string tensions, but we find these two to be the best for most guitars.
Basses: These basses start life with a brilliant edge and tend to grow into a richer, warmer sound after some play. Their lifespan is average and they take longer than average to settle into tune. However, the intonation is excellent and they allow for a great deal of color variety.
Trebles: The trebles are exceptionally sweet, allowing for perhaps the warmest and gentlest tone of any of the trebles we carry. They are quite flexible and project well. There is also a great deal of color variety among the three strings. Their intonation is, however, more inconsistent than average, and it sometimes takes a couple of sets to get a perfectly true string. They also take longer than average to hold their pitch. Once you`ve found a good one, though, it has excellent longevity.
