This is a fine example of a classic Greg Smallman, very similar to the one John Williams has used for the recordings he made throughout the 1980's and 90's. These instruments are known for their great power and piano-like sustain. The heavily domed and very thick back gives the guitar a very rigid and stiff outer shell, forcing all the vibration to the soundboard, which is thinly built and reinforced internally not with any kind of traditional fan system but rather with a unique and intricate lattice system of balsa wood (re-enforced with carbon fiber) with pieces of Blu-Tak attached to various spots to "tune" the top. Smallman’s instruments have been played for years not just by John Williams, but also by several other concert artists, including Xufei Yang, Ben Verdery, Nicola Hall, Carlos Bonnell and even Paul McCartney, among others. This guitar is in excellent condition with no damage or repairs, only the some modest signs of playing wear. Also includes the custom wooden case as originally supplied by Smallman.
